Job Description:

Technology Centre Prague is opening a junior researcher position to carry out research on the project BrightSpace  “Designing a Roadmap for Effective and Sustainable Strategies for Assessing and Addressing the Challenges of EU Agriculture to Navigate within a Safe and Just Operating Space”.

TERMS OF REFERENCE

ABOUT BRIGHTSPACE

The BrightSpace project responds to the EU policy challenge to increase the contribution of agriculture to climate change action, improve the management of natural resources, ensure a fair economic return for farmers, and reinforce the protection of biodiversity and satisfy needs of consumers. The project aims at designing modelling toolbox and using it for the assessment of alternative scenarios of policy options. The project is future looking, hence explores new technological and sustainable consumption trend relating to agriculture and food.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

The junior researcher is expected to work under the supervision of the team leader on Work Packages (WP) 3 and 8 of the project. These two WPs explore promising technologies and changes in consumers’ preferences towards sustainable production and consumption, and translate them in the parameters of models considered in the BrightSpace toolbox.

EDUCATION AND OTHER KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in economics, development studies, statistics or related field is required. Knowledge of MS Office is essential, knowledge of statistical and economic modelling (e.g. GAMS) software or foresight techniques is an advantage.

Basic orientation in the related policy field is expected: it concerns mainly the EU Common Agricultural Policy and the Green deal for Europe , especially about the Farm to Fork strategy.

Also it will be useful to know about European strategies in the area of Research, Development and Innovation, emerging technologies and responsible research.

WORK EXPERIENCE

A minimum of two year of experience in economic research and policy analysis is required.
A PhD degree substitutes for this condition.

LANGUAGE

Command in English at B2 level is necessary for working on the Horizon Europe project. At least basic knowledge of Czech is important for working in the TC Prague environment.

ASSESSMENT

The evaluation of qualified candidates will include a knowledge-based interview and an assessment of the quality of a short essay on the assigned topic. The essay topic will be assigned after the interview.
